Filmvisning og Q&A:

WHEN YOU GO BACK TELL THEM: Voices of Melanesian Women

En film av André Iteanu and Lola Iteanu
Varighet: 56 min

Filmscreening and Q&A:

WHEN YOU GO BACK TELL THEM: Voices of Melanesian Women

A film by André Iteanu and Lola Iteanu
56 minutes

The filmmaker will present the film and there will be a Q&A after the screening.

An anthropologist (André Iteanu) and his daughter (Lola Iteanu) visits the village where he has been working for several decades. As André was previously adopted by a family, the women of this village consider Lola to also be their daughter. They requested that she report what Melanesian women do, what they say and believe –  to people in her own country. This presents a unique opportunity for insight into a way of life that is at once very close and very distant from our own.

Antrofilm: anthropological film at the museum

The University Museum of Bergen presents anthropological film screenings at the museum. In collaboration with the Department of Social Anthropology, Nordic Anthropological Film Association and Journal of Anthropological Films, we bring together film lovers, film makers, anthropologists and others to watch anthropological orientated films, to discuss human culture, aesthetics, the politics and practices of representation, and to expand our visions.

NAFA has since its founding in the early 1970s, promoted ethnographic film through the annual NAFA film festival and its collection and online database of anthropological films. The NAFA archive is hosted by The University Museum of Bergen.
